Jalan Muntri in George Town is already one of the most characterful streets in Malaysia. We like to think we’ve added to that. Housed in a beautifully restored double-storey heritage shophouse, directly opposite the Hainan Thean Hou Temple,
Bottega Penang is a UNESCO World Heritage Site address with an open kitchen at its heart and a long concrete bar counter where the best seats in the house happen to be.
Good Food. No Shortcuts.
Our menu celebrates the classics. Fresh pasta, wood-fired pizza, imported cheeses, proper Italian cold cuts, and monthly specials inspired by Chef Giuseppe’s family recipes.
No gimmicks. No fusion detours. Just honest Italian food made with ingredients we’re proud to put our name on.
An Italian Home in George Town
Behind the open kitchen and the bar counter, you’ll find a full heritage shophouse dining room with rustic wooden furnishings, natural airwell lighting, high ceilings, and the kind of atmosphere that takes years to build and can’t be replicated. Upstairs, a private dining space seats up to 34 pax for groups who want a little more room. Out front, al fresco seating on Muntri Street for those who prefer their dinner with a side of George Town street life. Pets welcome.
It’s relaxed, a little loud, always welcoming, and unapologetically Italian. Exactly how we like it.
In the Heart of George Town
Whether you’re exploring the heritage trails, heading over from Gurney, entertaining clients in the city centre, or simply looking for somewhere worth the walk, Bottega Penang sits right in the middle of one of Malaysia’s most beloved neighbourhoods. For guests looking for an authentic Italian restaurant in Penang, we’re the place they discover once and keep coming back to.
